How to Find Your Ring Size (Without Guessing)

How to Find Your Ring Size (Without Guessing)

Ring sizing trips up more online shoppers than almost any other jewelry purchase — you can't try it on before you buy. Here's how to get it right, and why adjustable designs solve most of the problem anyway.

Measuring at Home

Wrap a strip of paper or string around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps, then measure the length in millimeters. Compare that number to a standard ring size chart. Measure in the evening if you can — fingers are slightly smaller in the morning.

Use an Existing Ring

If you already own a ring that fits the same finger well, measure its inner diameter instead. This is usually more accurate than measuring your finger directly.

When in Doubt, Go Adjustable

Adjustable and open-cuff ring designs remove the guesswork almost entirely — they flex to fit a small range of sizes, which makes them a safer choice for gifts especially, when you can't ask the recipient to measure their own finger without spoiling the surprise.

Stacking Rings? Size for Comfort, Not a Snug Fit

If you're building a stacked-ring look with multiple rings on one finger, size very slightly looser than you would for a single ring, since two or three bands together take up more room than one.
